Director Cheryl Dunye's lesbian hybrid narrative The OWLs will be screening tonight at 8:00 pm at Outfest in collaboration with Los Angeles Black Pride and Out & About. The film tells a story of the generational gap between older, wiser lesbians (or OWLS) who were at the forefront

of the lesbian movement in the 80s and 90s, and their twenty something counterparts.

Former rock goddesses Iris and Lily are stuck in the 90s, trying to balance their drinking and partying with their relationships. Lily's relationship with Carol (Cheryl Dunye) is on the rocks, while MJ tries to hide her love for Lily. When the OWLS meet young lesbian Cricket with no respect for the trailblazing OWLs, the ladies' lives change forever as the OWLs face an emotionally unique set of circumstances that often remains unaddressed by young, hip, and modern representations of lesbian women.

The OWLs screens tonight at 8:00 pm as a part of Outfest.

A mix of thriller and documentary, The OWLs explores lesbian identity and  stars some of the most popular actors in lesbian cinema including Guinivere Turner (star of Go Fish and The L Word guest star), V.S. Brodie (Go Fish), Lisa Gornick (Tick Tock Lullaby) and Deak Engevikos (Itty Bitty Titty Committee).
